I am travelling from Kingston Park metro next weekend, making a connection in Newcastle onto a "normal" rail service to travel South.
If I buy an advance ticket for the onward journey, but a delay on the metro prevents me from catching my booked train, am I entitled to catch the next available service (as I would be if it was a "normal" train which was delayed, or would I have to buy a new ticket? Does the same apply if overcrowding from the Falcons fixture that afternoon prevents me from boarding?

Makes a fair bit of difference price wise to go with a flexible ticket, but I'd rather not spend ages hanging around Newcastle station if/when the metro runs to time and I'd booked onto a later service!

On the LNER website, and on trainsplit (and maybe elsewhere), you can get Advances from Newcastle Airport to e.g. London Kings X. With a through Advance, I can't see why the normal rules shouldn't apply, i.e. the rules about being able to take the same company's next train for the second leg if delayed on the first leg. However, I am not sure that being unable to board the metro due to overcrowding counts as a train delay. Would going from Kingston Park towards the Airport, and then coming back, be an easier option crowding-wise?

I agree - this seems the least risky option to me. It doesn't matter why you are unable to catch your booked service(s) - if you present yourself on-time to the first service for your journey then everything else is the responsibility of the train company/ies.

My concern with this is
1) whether Metro is a "train company". If my bus was delayed getting me to the station it would be tough luck, so possibly the same here.
2) if I have an airport through ticket, then overcrowding preventing me getting on is going to be a tough explanation.

I agree that going from to the airport and then turning round is less risky, but it's not exactly a speedy way of doing it!!

As well as through tickets to/from Newcastle Airport, LNER also price Anytime, Off-Peak, Super Off-Peak and Advance tickets to/from METRO T&W ALL ZN (code: H665) and selected destinations. This would be valid on the Metro from Kingston Park to Central Station.

(There's also H638 METRO T&W ZONE A for journeys to/from the central Newcastle/Gateshead, whilst stations between Fellgate and Sunderland have their own entries in the database.

Metro doesn’t need to be a train company, the Advance fares guide in the staff “knowledge base” simply refers to partners, as in:
“Through rail & partner tickets for which there is a through bus, tube, ferry or metro fare...”
I think it’s linked from a section of the forum somewhere but I haven’t found it yet...

Correct, but the main thing is that you hold an integrated contract for travel from A to B, not separate contracts with different companies. How or by whom you end up being transported is not really your concern.

Not exactly. It's certainly far from unheard of, and at the end of the day, if it's what happened, they have little choice but to accept it. Fare evaders are not going to be smart enough to come up with reasoning like this.

But as @transmanche has suggested, there are through tickets from the T&W Metro zones, which avoid any question mark (and hassle)totally.

I'd travel from Bank Foot rather than Kingston Park. It's not too far to walk or just take a Northbound service.

In my experience of attending rugby at Kingston Park I've always been able to board the first service post match. Next weekend will be Falcons final Premiership fixture having been relegated so I'm not sure it'll be a bumper crowd.
