Tyne Valley Line

Hi all,

If you don't know already the Tyne Valley Line between Hexham and Prudhoe is currently blocked by a Landslide. I am planning on travelling this morning from Prudhoe to Carlisle, I have an advance fare and the service I am booked to travel on is cancelled. If I make my own way to Hexham, rather than catching the RRB; will my ticket be valid on the services I try to catch? I don't really want to travel by bus as I have a connection at Carlisle and rather made sure I was at Hexham within plenty time.

Check with Northern, but I'd expect you to have to take your booked train if it is running. The RRB should connect into that at Hexham, so there may not be much benefit in making your own way to Hexham, unless you'd rather take the 10 than a ratty old coach.

Technically you can't "start short". But in reality nobody is going to either check or care, so as long as you're at Hexham for your booked train it won't make a jot of difference.

In the circumstances it is unlikely that you would have any problem with your proposed course of action.

That 'slip is at "Fearny Haugh" I think.
Hope that NR can sort it - although it was still mobile, apparently, a couple of days after the first incursion.
Might be an easier job than Harbury Cutting !

The December storms have caused a huge amount of damage.

However, I think the various TOCs have been accepting tickets OK.
