Tyne and Wear very low passenger levels

Just a little thing that made me chuckle this morning on the nexus website:

Metro services: overrun of engineering work, Monument to Heworth.

The Metro engineering work between Monument and Heworth due to finish by 10am today has overrun. It is now expected to finish at noon. Metro apologises for any inconvenience this causes to our passenger.

Still if they have the rest of the network to play with on their own, I doubt they'll be complaining!

That's weird, when they first posted this engineering work up, they said they'd finish at noon They've obviously over-estimated that.

Doubt the wind would've helped though

Were doing work on the QEII bridge, wonder what they actually were doing. Might have been easier to have a shuttle operate on both sides of the bridge, with services terminating at Central and Gateshead.

They couldn't have operated to Central (no crossover), but I don't know why they didn't operate to Gateshead, as theres a double crossover near Gateshead Stadium. Perhaps they were doing some works further up the line as well.

Still could have worked wrong line to Monument and used the crossover there. I think most of the time it is due to replacement buses, easier to get people onto a bus at Heworth compared to Gateshead Stadium.
