Hi

Just thought I'd set up a quiz about the Tyne And Wear Metro

Who opened the Tyne And Wear Metro?

How many stocks on the metro are there currently?

Name 5 stations on the metro (you may not look at a map)?

What was the difference in the livery between when it opened and in 1992?

Where was the metro extended to in 1992?

Who is the operator of the Tyne And Wear Metro?

What colours where the original livery?

Are there any cars still in the original livery?

Which station is getting a "facelift"?

Good Luck
TyneAndWearMetro :)

My answers in bold

Who opened the Tyne And Wear Metro?
It was the widow of the former chairman of the Tyne and Wear County Council Transport Committee - he was, if I remember, Roland Scott-Batey? So it was Mrs. Scott-Batey.

How many stocks on the metro are there currently?
Stocks? Do you mean stops? 60

Name 5 stations on the metro (you may not look at a map)?
Byker Manors Chillingham Rd Walkergate Wallsend

What was the difference in the livery between when it opened and in 1992?
Opening livery was white and cadmium yellow, with blue waistrail. After 1992, err... it wasn't.

Where was the metro extended to in 1992?
Airport

Who is the operator of the Tyne And Wear Metro?
Nexus

What colours where the original livery?
Depends what you mean by "original" livery. The two prototypes wore cream and cadmium yellow, with a maroon waistrail. Opening livery described above

Are there any cars still in the original livery?
Depends what you call the "original" livery. 4001 and 4002 are in the "prototype" livery

Which station is getting a "facelift"?
Haymarket

And my question:

Which Forum member worked on Metro's marketing and PR in the 1980s?

No need to answer that one.....

There are 90 articulated units.

But there again, you knew I knew that...

Anyway, how are we doing... have we got them all right yet?

You are both doing really well (some answers in more detail than I would have put them - you clever people!)

Here are some more questions

Name the three revised colours that nexus are painting the metros?

What are the name of the door buttons that the prototype carriges have currently got?

What colour is 4016 currently painted in?

What colour is 4004 currently painted in?

Name a company that metro is CURRENTLY advertising?

Which station (near the coast) on the metro is a bit delapidated and needs work doing to it?

If I lived at West Jesmon - and wanted to see Newcastle United play, which station would I get off at?

From Manors - which would be the quickest way to get to Park Lane (Sunderland)?

Good Luck

8. - I;d argue getting off at Jesmond and crossing the central motorway then across through the University may be quicker.. and a nicer walk.

6. Cullercoats IMO....Tynemouth is fine as it is - a kind of living museum surrounding n adequate station.
