Twyford - Paddington

Hello,

Just wondering if this would be valid and if so how much grief it's likely to cause me!

I have a Z1-3 annual travelcard. If I bought an anytime day single from Twyford - Drayton Green (£11.30) could I use this combination on the fast Twyford - Paddington peak time morning trains that don't stop at Ealing Broadway?

Twyford - Drayton Green benefits from the following easement:

30077 Journeys from Greenford, South Greenford, Castle Bar Park, Drayton Green
and West Ealing travelling via Southall may double back via Ealing
Broadway. This easement applies in both directions.

It only saves 50p on the anytime single fare to Ealing Broadway (£11.80) which would definately be valid on these service, but I'm likely to be doing this journey a fair bit in the coming months.

That would be valid even without the easement - it's valid to West Ealing, where you'd normally change, but which is also in zone 3.

Condition 19 of the National Rail Conditions of Carriage states:

You may use two or more tickets for one journey as long as together they cover the entire journey and one of the following applies:

(a) they are both Zonal Tickets (unless special conditions prohibit their use);
(b) the train you are in calls at a station where you change from one ticket to another; or
(c) one of the tickets is a Season Ticket (which for this purpose does not include Season Tickets or travel passes issued on behalf of a passenger transport executive or local authority) or a leisure travel pass, and the other ticket(s) is/are not.

Good spot Fahad - silly that I missed that! The fare to West Ealing is also £11.30 from Twyford so I'll buy tickets to there instead. Thanks!

If you are travelling to Drayton Green, and a ticket to Drayton Green costs as much as you'd end up paying anyway - why not just buy to Drayton Green? If you are delayed and miss a connection it will be easier to claim (although shouldn't affect the actual claim), or if you were to miss a final connection of the night. Even if none of this will affect your journey, Drayton Green is probably under-used and under counted for usage because of all the fare evasion, so you'd be doing it a favour buying the ticket to there even if you only ever wanted to go to West Ealing!

I dunno, I've bought plenty of tickets to Drayton Green
