Twyford Gardens

There's a new consultation launched for a major housing development East of Twyford, named Twyford Gardens. Berkeley is the developer.
The website twyfordgardens.co.uk contains more detail on the proposals which include a new railway station between Twyford and Maidenhead with proposed Elizabeth Line and GWR services.
Do you think this is a credible proposal? Entirely speculative by the developer, or would rail authorities have been consulted on feasibility?

They claim that they have engaged consultants and the station is feasible. However, this would need solid commitment particularly of the money kind. Sadly, it’s just as likely to be a Wixams and Beam Park rather that a Robroyston.

Whilst Berkley does have form in contributing to new stations, it’s unlikely they will be able to afford this. It’s 2,500 homes, and a new station there is going to be at least £40m, as the tracks will need moving, along with the OLE and signalling etc.

..and a new/enlarged road tunnel beneath the line as well for the new relief road. Agree, sounds expensive!
I just wondered about the viability of accommodating an extra stop on the line as well. And whether 2500 homes really merits such a service.
