Two together + Rover

The price: £81.50 or £53.80 with a Two Together

However, it says underneath it:
In addition to any time restrictions applying to this ticket, note that Two Together Railcard discounted tickets cannot be used before 09:30 Mondays to Fridays (excluding public holidays).

Does this mean you can't use the rover on journeys that start before 09:30? Even if those tickets would be an "offpeak" (i.e. glasgow to fort william return is always "offpeak").

From my understanding of the 2 together railcard T&Cs that is absolutely correct, the railcard's time restrictions apply as well as the tickets'.

So, say, a Senior Railcard holder living in Guildford buys a All Line Rover and begins a journey at 6:30am, going to Waterloo.

If challenged, would it be the case that if the traveller said they were just going to London then the book would be thrown at them, whereas if they said they were on the 1st leg of a journey to Norwich then all would be fine and dandy?

That's incorrect - there is no time restriction on an ALR into Waterloo (irrespective of whether any railcard is held or not). If however, the person had a two together railcard, it wouldn't be valid as the railcard (not the ticket) has a time restriction on it.

Interesting question. I am not aware of a similar restriction on any Railcard other than the Two Together, due to its blanket ban before a certain time.

You are of course right that even if the morning restrictions on a journey wholly within the Network Area is theoretically enforced (in line with the terms of the Senior Railcard), all a passenger has to do is claim the journey to be part of a longer one finishing outside the Network Area and the restriction would be lifted, so it would not be enforceable realistically anyway.

Sorry yes, did not make that clear.

The tickets because they have the two together railcard discount are not valid at all before 0930.

Much the same as the Network Railcard- any ticket bought using one is not valid, monday to friday, before 10am*, on top of any other ticket restrictions



*there's a list of specific exceptions
