Two together railcard

I’ve purchased tickets for a couple of long journeys in December with my son, discounted with a two together railcard.

Until now I’d assumed I can buy the railcard a day or two before travel, but it’s just occurred to me-should I have had the railcard at the time of ticket purchase? Or is this a non-issue providing I have the railcard with us when we travel?

You only need to have the railcard at time of travel, not at time of purchase.

I have bought tickets for travel in January but do not currently have a railcard which will be valid then, for example. I will have one when I travel.

PS If you buy a ticket at a ticket office they will want to see the railcard, usually.

Indeed, the forum's ticketing site will be happy to sell such tickets, whereas a ticket office is likely to refuse to issue them unless you pre-purchase the Railcard and end up with validity you don't need.

That's one of the many reasons why I prefer to buy online instead of from a ticket office!
