But if one has a Rover, and the other a point-to-point, theycould go their separate ways - then the tickets wouldn't be valid. For example, I have a Euston to Brum ticket, purchased through and valid for LM services. You have one of their great escape tickets which means you can go anywhere on their network. I get off at New Street, you decide to go to Wolverhampton - you'd have to buy a new ticket for that bit of the trip, right??
I suspect this may involve 3 people and 2 Railcards. I know people who have multiple Railcards because they travel some of the time with one person and some of the time with another.
If not, then it's nonsensical.

Is it possible to purchase a single 'Two Together' ticket or are they always sold as pairs? I have found that websites won't apply the discount to a single ticket.

)Tickets for only one passenger with a Two Together discount will not be sold, nor will tickets for two passengers with a Two Together railcard to make different journeys.

The TVM at Farnborough North will happily sell a single ticket with a Two Together Railcard discount. Indeed you have to select the railcard discount before chosing the number of passengers, which is how I found this out!

The other reason I can see is that one of the people has an undiscounted ticket for part of the route (for one reason or another), and those are the best tickets for each person to complete the journey.
It sounds as though you may need to shop around for the tickets, though.

Put in a railcard (any 34% off type) ticket and send to Manual Fares and then change the railcard type to GS3 and there's your extra groupsave ticket.............I do not think my TIS allows me, no. Just like a single Groupsave ticket (which is fun when they have a 4th person turn up - tough

Well, I once got an admin-free refund and new issue for changing a GS3 set of tickets into GS4 at an EMT station. Tickets weren't bought from EMT originally and I just paid the difference (only 10p I think), so it is possible.
Local procedures may vary, of course.

Eh.....no.
A) I doubt if your manglement would have the foggiest as to what you were doing....
and B) fujitsu still haven't worked out a work around for non issues of one of a group or when an excess has to be done......

Don't confuse what you'd do with the things that happen in a lot of ticket offices
From my recollection Avantix will let you sell pretty much anything you like, valid or not lol.
As I understand it, no because both tickets need to have the Two Together discount applied.

It's already getting to be fun with misuse on this card, the signature on the back of the railcard being the clincher..............

I can't see anything in the railcard terms & conditions to support this. Is it mentioned elsewhere?
I notice that these terms say "Terms and Conditions listed above are valid up to and including 17 May 2015.", so I'd hope the current terms are mentioned somewhere.
That is why I said 'as I understand it' - I've not seen it explicitly written down either way, but my understanding is that both tickets are supposed to be of the same type.

Why does the signature matter? Surely with a photocard it's fairly clear if it's the rightful user or not.

I've done it before on Avantix, you can also do a child or adult only Friends and Family ticket. The only thing I've never been able to do is issue a Northern Duo to any more than two people, which, as a separate ticket type should work like GS3/4/5 ticket types and just issue multiples of itself. Instead you just have to duplicate the ticket in the shopping basket, same outcome, bigger farce.

The railcard, like a bank card, is not valid for use unless signed.
To build upon what bunnahabhain above me has just said, the signature is nothing about identifying the user; its purpose is to indicate acceptance of the railcard's terms.
Thanks. At least I know it's possible to issue it - whether it is valid or not is another question.

Railcards are chronically abused. They should all be signed- if they are not signed you get them to sign it and if it's not the correct holder they usually catch themselves out..... Lots of brothers or sisters do try it on.
Senior railcards are the worst. A random signing check IMHO would show huge abuse.
