Two Together + Oyster

Does anyone know how the Two Together railcard and Oyster/Contactless Payment works?

If you have a Senior Railcard you could get it added to your Oyster card. But how can a Two Together Card be added to two Oysters or two contactless payment cards?

You cannot add Two Together Railcard travel discount onto Oyster PAYG cards. The concession only applies to holders of 16-25, Senior, Disabled, HM Forces Raicards and Gold Cards.

A 34% discount on off peak Day Travelcards will be introduced for visitor groups of 10 or more. This will cost £8 for adults and £4 for under 16s (currently off-peak Day Travelcards cost £8.90 for adults and £3.60 for under 16s). These discounts will also be available to Railcard holders. Under 11s accompanied by an adult will continue to travel free on all TfL services.

So, from that, I'm presuming that all railcards are covered from 2015.

Only the railcards they currently allow though. The excluded types are Family, Two Tegether, and Network - the common feature is that they either require more than one person (Two Together and Family), or can be valid for more than one person (Network). The 'Two Together' seems theoretically possible to allow for if they could link two registered accounts, as it defines two named individuals, but the other two are very difficult to apply to PAYG, with multiple random friends and children being allowed.

(Network Card also having the second problem of a minimum fare Mon-Fri that makes it irrelevant during the 'working week'.)

Given the other problem associated with the Network Railcard I wonder if this is actually irrelevant, given that the Disabled Railcard can also be valid for more than one person (two, to be precise).

The quote was referring to Day Travelcards, which are currently available to be discounted with those Railcards, except the Two Together. Perhaps this will be valid from next year.

TfL's policy of overpricing paper tickets (and now Travelcards) effectively means that the "group" Railcards no longer give a discount on most trips in London.

I think the Network Railcard can't be added to Oyster for the reason in your last paragraph- the Gold Card can and is otherwise nearly identical. Oyster doesn't distinguish different types of Railcard.

Yes, but the post I was replying to was (AFAICT) attempting to use the day travelcard situation to justify all the relevant railcards also being valid on Oyster PAYG...
