Two questions: 1) We are talking about England or Great Britain as a whole? 2) This is a proper city, right? Not somewhere like Perth/Blackpool/Doncaster (often mistaken for cities!)?

It is a proper city (although it may often be mistaken for NOT being a city....), and it's in England. The use of the word 'serving' in my post reads badly now I look at it. The station bears the name of the city.

Also, the 'further south' station is not in a city.
