I saw a quite unusual site from my office window near Trafford Park todaay at about 12.15 - two light class 92s speeding away from Trafford Park.

I usually see one or two 92s arriving or leaving Trafford Park each day heading an intermodal freight but two light engines is not normal.

Looking at Real Train Times it might be 018L to Rugby. Does anyone have more detail or know which 92s were involved?

Assuming those two locos had hauled freight services to Trafford Park, would it not have made economic sense to attach them to freight services running from Trafford Park? Just wondering that’s all.

On a train somewhere in Europe
ISTR that 92038 had failed somewhere in the last week or so (certainly shown as such at present); maybe 92044 had been sent to collect it? If a loco is broken and needs repairs it is often easier to move it with another engine rather than mess about dragging it around in a train, especially if the failure needs to go somewhere that the train doesn't call at.
