Today I signed up for Twitter. Not sure if I like it yet.

Does anyone else here use it? Do you enjoy it?

I tried it once and hated it - it's a complete waste of time! It's confusing to navigate, it's confusing to post a message, it's confusing to respond to a post and you can't make a post long enough!!! :roll:

I don't use Facebook either, except for the odd business page (e.g. Virgin Trains ).

The Twitter site is awful - try using Tweetdeck for a nice desktop app!

I use it mostly as an feed for various sites (New Scientist, Bad Astronomer, an NWS blog kept by an Astronomy geek) with some discussion

Had it, but gave in. I fully agree with the points raised by All Line Rover. I could never grasp how you were supposed to navigate, or where you were supposed to go to comment on somebody else's posts. The four hundred character limit was a good idea, but again, it just didn't work for me. When you first sign up, lots of people will request to follow you (and you are supposed to act in kindness by following them back) but give it five minutes and they slip through the back door and get rid of you!

Tweetdeck is extremely handy if (like me) you have not 1, but 2 accounts hock: 1 of them is my personal account where I follow things that intereste me, (football, F1) and friends, the other account is where I plug my forum.

I use Twitter, but I doubt most of my tweets would be of interest to most of you - although I do tweet a bit about where I've been by rail and every now and again what my lifetime mileage is.

I don't have a Twitter account—nothing to tweet, unless you like the ramblings of a chronically depressed post-teen who likes to pretend he's a bird.

I do, however, have many other people's Twitter feeds bookmarked on my browser; so you don't need an account to follow someone else's tweets.

Never bothered with it and I'm unlikely to in the future. It's full of people impersonating celebrities, celebrities plugging their latest film, brain dead people who think they're celebrity crush will be with them if they follow them and businesses pretending to be users.

I avoid all the celebs and consider Twitter useful because of the live nature of it. Yes, it's full of dross but there's loads of good stuff there too - and you see what you choose to follow/read/search for.

It's also very good for following official feeds, such as the FCC Twitter account - a company that went from not having a clue to being one of the best.

I also follow journalists that I respect who say a lot of things of interest without me having to wait for them to write a specific story. 140 characters isn't much (I wish it was 160 like a SMS!) but you can still get over a lot of information if you think about it.

The Twitter website is pretty confusing at first, so I'd give it a try with a Twitter app (either Tweetdeck for a desktop or the official Twitter app for smartphones). You don't need to be on it 24/7 and everyone can find some value from it.

What's more, if you start to post your own thoughts, you may find you actually quite like it.

The 'tweets' are fast and cheap and are easily forgettable.

At least the character restrictions will keep it from becoming like Facebook, in the respect that your posts have to be short and sweet, not just a long, continuous ramble of gobbledygook about how so and so went to a coffee shop, went to the cinema, went to get their haircut....
