Hello - I live in Twickenham and am starting a new job in Redhill. The normal journey would be by rail, changing at Clapham Junction. I will likely make the return journey 3-4 times a week, not daily.

Would anyone know what the most cost-effective ticket would be? Is it simply a season ticket or is there a better option if I am not travelling every day?

Many thanks for any guidance.

A Redhill to Zones 2 - 6 weekly Travelcard might be your best bet.

Presuming you are travelling in Peak for the entire journey, someone would need to confirm this (the pricing also looks odd! Maybe because they're priced by different operators?), but:

Twickenham to Redhill Annual Season - £2240
- This would restrict you to this route on National Rail only.

Redhill to London Underground Z2-6 Annual Season - £2232
- This would give you travel from Redhill to unlimited travel in London Zones 2-6, underground included.

Thank you to both for the helpful replies. Yes, I would need peak-time coverage, and I should have made it clear that I would also need access to London Zone 1. Many thanks.

Redhill - London Zones 1-6 Annual Travelcard is £2844.

Depending on when you need to travel into Zone 1 and the frequency you travel, it might be cheaper for you to use Oyster Prepay for these journeys with your Annual Gold Card discount.

Sample fares (off-peak):
From Vauxhall (Zone 1/2) into Zone 1 -
NR Only 95p
LU Only £1.25
NR + LU £1.75
From Shepherd's Bush (Zone 2) into Zone 1 -
NR Only £1.10
LU Only £1.25
NR + LU £1.90

Maybe because the former has the added validity at Epsom as well? (Looking at maps SC + TW)

Both fares are priced by Southern and the Travelcard price should be higher than the rail only. Alternatively Southern should remove the rail only price and use the Travelcard as the prevailing ticket for the journey.
