I purchased some tickets for a journey on Thursday from PNR - LAN using Card 'A' however this was my Mums card (she offered to pay because it is educationally related), since then she has moved banks and has not yet received her new card. Could I use my Card, Card 'B' to get my tickets from the machine using the FastTicket reference supplied to me at the time??

From which website did you purchase.

Does she still have card A (even though it may no longer be active)?

The Company has the discretion to issue tickets to the purchaser over the counter at one of its stations but will not be obliged to do so.
The purchaser is, as I understand the question, "Mum"; there is no contract with you.

I recommend that "Mum" visits one of the larger stations operated by Virgin, in person, with full identification and evidence of being the account-holder of the account which had the now destroyed card, plus the booking confirmation and evidence that the account has since been closed.

"Card B" appears to be irrelevant to the question, as is 'Mum's' new card with another bank and the 'educational relationship'.

The machines will not accept any card other than the one related to the purchase, though it is technically possible for Virgin to change that remotely so that they could be collected using another card. However, I doubt that any telephone call could provide enough evidence or persuasion to convince anyone in sales to switch the booking code to another card's ID.

The short answer is "It depends". The booking confirmation e-mail should say whether you need the same card or if any card can be used for collection.

If it requires the same card, the first port of call would be to contact the retailer (0844 556 5650 if booked through the Virgin website) to explain the situation and see if they can change the booking to allow any card for collection.

Failing that, go to a Ticket Office with a printed copy of the booking confirmation and a form of photo ID (e.g. driving licence or passport) and see if they can issue the ticket.

Where is PNR?

Penrith: [stn]PNR[/stn]

But yes, to the OP, please spell station names out in full the first time you use them on a given thread, for the benefit of those readers who don't know all the codes off by heart...

Thanks.

Especially if people are on mobile devices and cannot easily check. This is one of the main reasons why this rule exists.

Ok Sorry about that. I don't have to think about them when I type if it is a station I use a lot so tend to forget!!
