Hi all,

First time poster, long time lurker.

The UK ticket machine market is pretty sewn up between S&B, Worldline and Parkeon.

Who are the big players in Europe that supply the likes of SNCF, DB and Trenitalia?

Cheers

DB and SBB seem to primarily use Scheidt & Bachmann machines. Not unduly surprising as it's a German company :)

There's also Shere, now owned by ATOS. They were the first manufacturer of the new generation UK machines.

A couple of other players are Atron from Germany http://www.atron.com/en/company.html who do a lot of the cantonal ticket systems in Switzerland (for instance Aargau and St Gallen)

ACS which is the former Ascom-Autelca ticketing unit (who made the original Quickfare machines) now owned by Xerox https://www.xerox.com/en-us/services/transportation-solutions/public-transport-management who also do a lot of cantonal ticketing systems such as Zürich and Luzern.

The TER/RER/Transilien machines were done by Schlumberger, now part of Parkeon.

There's also Sadamel from the French part of Switzerland http://www.sadamel.ch/ who you see in places like Vaud and Geneva

Finally theres Hoft & Wessel/metric http://www.metric-group.com/en/public-transport/home/ who we know as Almex.

SNCF mainline machines are made by IER: http://www.ier.com/

Regional and suburban (TER, RER and Transilien) machines are of the same basic design as the Tramlink ones pictured here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tramlink#/media/File:Gb-tramlink-tickets.jpg I don't know the name of the manufacturer

Thanks Nicholas, very useful

Thank you all so far.

Are there any views on either southern Europe (Spain, Italy), Scandinavia or Eastern Europe?

Yep, got the UK market buttoned down, as in the OP.

Any other views on who are the key TVM suppliers through Europe apart from

ATOS/Shere/Worldline
S&B
Parkeon
IER
Xerox
Atron

Thanks a lot
