I am planning a trip for later in the year to Italy.

As part of the journey I have a change between stations in Turin. The info on the web appears to contradict it's self.

Does anyone know if the Metro station is open again at Torino Porto Susa? Some info says yes but others say no.

I am not sure about it, that is the problem.

The surface (FS) station I am fairly sure is open as this is shown in Journey Planners and Thomas Cook Timetable. It is the metro station I am interested in which is still shown as closed on some material but open on others. Unfortunately don't speak or read Italian so cannot tell. My dilemma is 51 minutes to change stations in Turin or 15 minute interchange in Milan. Neither is particularly great with an 8 hour TGV connecting train.

The Turin option also has a longer connection at Genova.

ie Porta Susa (metro) station is not yet in service.

(The Italian language version of Wikipedia says it is expected to open in July of this year, but I've not found anything official to confirm that)

Seems you are expected to use XVIII Dicembre station instead, although the map http://www.comune.torino.it/gtt/urbana/mappa/pdf/xviii_dicembre.pdf is not that clear

Hello,

I'm a rail fan from Turin. The Porta Susa area is undergoing a major redevelopment. The old surface rail station is now closed, and the new underground rail station (FS) is in operation. Trains now stop at the underground station (including the TGV from Paris).

The link between the underground train station and the metro station (Porta Susa Metro Station) hasn't been completed yet, so it is not possible to board on a metro train at Porta Susa. The nearest metro station is Piazza XVIII Dicembre, which is in fact the metro station for the old Porta Susa rail station.

It sounds complicated, sorry, but in fact it isn't! Once you have got off at the Porta Susa rail station, you just follow the metro signs and you will be directed towards the XVIII Dicembre metro station. It is a 3 to 5 minutes walk, depending on how heavy your luggage is! The walk is entirely within the rail station area.

Underground trains are pretty frequent (from 3 to 5 minutes), and the journey from XVII Dicembre to Porta Nuova station takes approximately 5 minutes. The underground is operated without drivers, as in the case of Lyon, Lille and some Parisian lines.
