Tube Overall Dimensions Sheet

Good Evening everyone!

I would like to ask if is there any technical document that regulates the Overall Dimensions of the rolling stock, either Sub-Surface or Deep Level Tube, in a form of a bounding box chart.

I also like to now if the DLT dimensions are the same for the Bakerloo/Picadilly, Victoria, Waterloo/Central and Jubilee/Northern lines.

I need these to draw trains for the London Underground and I want to draw at least one Deep Level Tube. ;)

It would also depend on the length of the vehicle and the exact route.

I realise your question is about deep level tubes, but using sub-surface as an example, A Stock was very wide, and was obviously cleared for the whole of the Metropolitan Line routes, but was not able to go to places like Barking etc.

What I need is only the Reference Boundary of the shape of the vehicle, plus the maximum length of a driving and non-driving car.

With Reference Boundary I mean something like UIC 506 or, in my national case, CPb and CPb+ (3440 mm wide, Extremely large for european standards)

They're not the same, the tunnels on the Victoria Line are slightly larger, and due to the curves on the Piccadilly Line the rolling stock has a slightly different running profile. Thanks to the legacy of being built by several different companies.

I happened to found an image with the Reference Boundary standardized for the 2009 and S Stock.

And yes, I actually meant the pairs (Bakerloo and Picc), (Waterloo/Central), (jubilee/northern) all together.

2009 Stock still seems bigger than other deep level tube stocks, so the Reference Boundary above can't be used for Central Line, because the height of the platform and of the tunnel may be different.




Unless we do a cheap trick which is making the passenger floor levelled to the highest platforms and then use an automated step like in these:

I think someone needs to do some more reading into the history of LUL lines, they're not in 'pairs' like that from the consruction stages.

For example if one where to pair the Bakerloo to any line it would be th Jubilee, being that the top end of and half of the Jubilee Line at Baker Street used to be part of the Bakerloo Line. The Piccadilly it'self being formed of two lines at the construction stage, indeed the Bakerloo, Piccadilly and Northern Lines would fit nicely in the groups being formed into the UERL from the BS&WR, GNP&BR and CXE&HR...

Indeed thanks to the standardidation by UERL there is little variation betwen lines after the City and South London Railway was enlarged...

I have spent the last 2 months reading into the LU and know it quite well actually. I do know that they were built at different times by different companies and that none were really built the same. The 'pairs' that I was talking about were about similar rolling stock as these would be very close dimensions which was what the original questions. Again, it was about stock, not the lines themselves.
