Hello I was wondering if someone can give any advice I used the undergroind for years loved it, recently in the last 3 months I have been having severer anxiety on the tube. I am worried we get stuck in a tunnel for hours. We be forgotten about. All sorts if electric cut and driver can't speak to us.al scenarios. Does anyone have any advice? I think it started off I read someone was stuck on a tube for 2 hours and no one knew what bad happened. Any tips will be so much appreciated!, I travel on the northern line!

Traveling on the tube is incredibly safe. Easier said than done though I do appreciate. Control know where all trains are at all times and drivers know exactly where they are, what the emergency procedures are and how to put them into action.

If you wanted to build up some confidence, I’d suggest trying the tube above ground. Get familiar with all sorts of things tube related while being in daylight and mobile coverage (may help you keep calm knowing you could call someone so they knew where you are. Sure, they couldn’t come and sort a delayed problem, but it would keep you calm knowing people know exactly where you are). Following that, I’d suggest the Jubilee Line extension (Westminster - Stratford) as that has mobile phone coverage. This means you have the same knowledge you could call someone to speak to them. Once you feel confident, start branching out.

The key is to keep pushing yourself but not too far. Keep setting small and achievable goals of one more stop etc. You’ll get there.

The tube is incredibly reliable, you are more likely to win the lottery than get stuck underground for long - there are something around 3 million journeys every single day on the tube, a delay like that happens maybe once every year at most, probably far less. In my 40 odd years of regular use my worst delay was about 20 minutes. I understand that it is a real fear, but there are so many more likely things to happen... and even if the worst did come to pass, your fellow passengers would be sympathetic, you wouldn't be on your own
