Hi guys

I have ever actually played TS before but would like to start out using it. What would the minimum spec be that I would need on my laptop? Is there any way I can find this out on my system what I have before I order the game?

Don't want to waste any money on it if it is going to be rubbish.

Buy it on Steam (even if you bought it boxed, it's only a Steam code anyway and you must have a Steam account), try it and if your laptop isn't up to scratch, simply get a refund. In order to be eligible for a Steam refund, you must not play for more than two hours and apply for the refund within 14 days of purchase.

However, you could also post your specs, try clicking the Start button and typing dxdiag in the search box. Then give us your Operating System and Memory from the System tab, followed by the relevant graphics card and total memory from the display tab.

Thanks!

Here are the screen shots in one file showing my system information.

Please let me know if it is ok.

The screengrab is hardly legible, even when blown up. Is there any chance of making it larger before uploading again?

It might run, but that's a fairly underpowered i3 and on-board (Intel 3000) graphics, it's not going to run well even if you turn everything right down.

I can vouch for that. I have an i7 with an onboard card and with most things fairly low, the simulator still lags to high dudgeon. Hopefully I'll figure out how to mount a graphics card externally...

I had a base model i3 (Fujitsu AH512 with a 2328m and 8 GB of ram) and it did not work at all really. Upgraded to a broadwell i5 (5200U with HD5500 graphics and 6gb ram) and it seems to work fine on medium settings (and so does ETS2) and would be about a minimum spec I would go for. Having a ~720p screen helps.
Also be aware that it is best having the laptop plugged in when playing as the battery will not tend to last very long when performing highly computational tasks such as this.

Yes, it is quite an old laptop now. I keep meaning to replace it but it keeps surviving round the world (business/holiday) trips and keeps working.

Would the above spec be ok for maybe something like BVE though?

I don't think BVE4 supports anything past Windows XP.

Might be fine with OpenBVE though.

BVE4 worked fine on Windows 7/8, OpenBVE should be absolutely fine on Windows 10.

OpenBVE can be tricky to install at first, at what point are you having issues?

Managed to get to the point now whereby I have managed to install it and open the program. So the next step is to install the routes and trains.

Is that an easy process? I am a bit confused as to how I make sure I install them into the correct file location so that I can open the game (and select the route and train) directly from the window that BVE opens in.

Thanks for your ongoing help! :)
