just got this and having probs with the Tornado BMO-SOU route. When i get wheelslip, despite me closing the Regulator, cut off to zero ( just in case) Braking and sanding it still carries on even with 100% brakes!!

Any way around this?

Are you using the train brake or the locomotive brake? If you're trying to slow a heavy train on just the locomotive brake then it won't have much effect; use the train brake instead (the standard keys are [ and ] for locomotive brake and ; and ' for the train brake, but they might be mapped to different keys for that particular loco so check the manual).

Greg, it is the wheelslip that i cannot understand The regulator is shut, cut off a 0 ( as a precaution) sanders on and both brakes on but the wheels keep on spinning for an age! racking up zillions of -5 points ( sad face)

In real life the slip would subside as soon as the regulator was closed..what is the correct way to stop it before my next birthday!!!

Have you been opening the regulator to full when moving off? This will almost certainly cause wheelslip and if the scenarios you're playing through are based in poor conditions or you are on a gradient, you may find the wheelslip continues for a while. A way of stopping the wheelslip might be to move the cut-off to full and then open the regulator a small amount - enough to move an engine at slow speeds from a stand - and see what that does.
Looking at the manual for A2 Blue Peter (which is the engine which comes with the Bournemouth to Southampton route), @GregA is right with the keyboard commands for the locomotive and train brakes. The manual (http://cdn.edgecast.steamstatic.com/steam/apps/277771/manuals/LNERA2_Manual_EN.pdf?t=1470389328) says to apply sand to the rails, you need to press X once and then to stop it, press X again. On some locos you need to hold X down to apply sand, so maybe you've done that?

I know very little about steam engines (although I am learning as I go along*), this might help?

-Peter :)

*mostly about Great Western machines though, not LNER!

Just another 'itch' ( i wish they would give a it more info) like

Giving an indication when the doors are open or closed just one button with not idea is a bit naff

Secondly Driving the Black 5 Woking to Portsmouth

Cannot adjust the cut off at all, just stuck on 75% is that normal?

Thanks

Are you using the HUD with the pressure, regulator, cut-off, brake, etc. on it for the doors? You can also use the "T" key on your keyboard to open the doors, and if you're driving in a scenario, a red bar will move along the left-hand side of the HUD as passengers board and alight; this red bar will disappear once the doors are closed.

With the Black 5, I don't know what the issue is there. Maybe using the "S" key on your keyboard to reduce the cut-off will allow you to adjust it. It will not go above 75% but can be moved below (I think in steps but I can't remember).

Hope this helps,

Have you got a diesel or electric loco in the train (say at the back)?

If you have it would need to be marked as not in use, as the cut-off on the HUD is for all locos in the train. Obviously a diesel cannot be at anything other than 100% Forward/Neutral/100% Backward

And this needs to be done within the scenario editor, and can be done by clicking on the engine in question and then selecting the tick-box next to the image of a train with a cross over it. :)

Sorry, I rushed to reply. I should have mentioned that bit as well.

Bear in mind though when doing this, that will mean the diesel is dead in tow and therefore adding weight.

That's a good point - it depends on the number of carriages in the train, but you should be able to drive a Black 5 with a dead diesel on the back. Railtours do it a lot where the diesel isn't powering the train along, but then this is Train Sim we're talking about so it might well throw a tantrum and give up :D

It is one of the reasons I tend to create scenarios that only have the lead loco unless a class 7 or 8, or very flat route (load 9ish)

(Gazra13 on steam just in case anyone wants to link me to it. I will amend my signature on here at some point, but in work at the moment so cannot access steam)

Ah OK. I'll have a look at your Steam page :)
