I've been on one anti-American demo in my life, namely Grosvenor Square in 1968, but I wouldn't waste any time on this man even if I were unfortunate enough to be near whichever area he's going to infest.

I can't believe they're going to let him meet the Queen. It'll be interesting to watch her reaction. Will they be allowing old Phil to meet him too? That would be rather interesting to see!

)I'm pleased he is visiting, he is after all the head of state of a major World Power and an alliance partner to this country.
Do I like him personally no I think he's a bit of a nut job, but I'm not an American and its up to the Americans as to who they vote for, and unfortunately it would seem they didn't have a great choice between him or Hilary, same as this country with a choice between May or the Marxist.
I also think as the head of a major democratic he should be afforded the welcome you would expect.

I understand the reasoning and potential power behind the "ignore him or turn your back on him" suggestions. Unfortunately to be truly effective, that needs a level of agreement and discipline between millions of interested individuals.
So to avoid the worst of all worlds that would be a token protest by more volatile individuals who are easy to label, abuse and sneer at, it seems to me that as a reasonable, non-violent individual who is rarely moved to protest, I ought to stand up and be counted, with as large and witty a banner as I can manage, for the benefit of the cameras.

What's the issue ? Surely they have more in common with each other than they do with you or I ?
The Queen is probably hoping she dies before his visit.
I won't be paying much attention to his visit, and as I rarely watch rolling news channels (unless something major happens) then I will probably be shielded from most of it.
He can of course come and say whatever he wants, and say how great we were to leave the EU so we can form great trade deals (perhaps not mentioning that any deals would have to be weighted towards the benefit of the US, not us) but I hope he'll go back home realising that most people weren't so bothered about him.
It doesn't make us anti America. I've been plenty of times and will no doubt go again, although as a journalist I am in no rush to return and have to give up all sorts of personal information to be allowed in!

Why not? Both Robert Mugabe and Enver Hoxa were invited over to meet Her Majesty and those two are far far nastier than the bloke who's got the two Koreas talking which is more than the previous three incumbents of the White House did. Useless Obama even gave in and let the little fat boy have improved concessions. Her Majesty was forced to shake murdering Martin McGuiness' hand. The Al-Sauds (of Saudi Arabia) are regular visitors and yet they have a nasty habit of lopping people's hands and heads off if they've been naughty in their eyes.
Compared with that lot Trump is a pussycat.

This issue was somewhat local to me and affected a few people I know. From what I understand they were a mixture of religious fundamentalists and what DarloRich described. Ultimately though, they were a bunch of social media warriors who were arguing their opinion without knowing the whole story, and if they did they would usually be arguing from a position of feelings or flawed logic. For example, they would go on about how the UK lost all forms of compassion because qualified specialists decided it was better to let a child die peacefully than allow him to travel to Rome to receive the exact same treatment which would've caused him pain and which he may not have survived. Not to mention how they seem to think it was the UK government was suddenly killing it's own people and how the hospital wanted to save it's own reputation. There's a lot of anger that I have towards a lot of them people, so I'll chose to refrain from doing so in this particular thread.

Churchill did a pretty good job of leading the country through WW2. Unless you can think of ways in which he wasn’t good for the people of this country?
I will be driving to Turnberry and having a game of mini-golf with Barron before meeting the Trump card and applauding him for how well he is playing the game of politics. Like it or not, he seems to have brought the Koreas to at least a summit. Also, we do love protesting against Americans when we seem completely inert when we have such saintly figures visit us from the likes of Saudi Arabia, China, Azerbaijan and Israel.
It is disgusting that these so called 'lefties' and social justice warriors would amass in thousands against Trump in London so they can be seen on tv and on social media yet do absolutely nothing when Erdogan et al turn up in London. Tony Benn would be oscillating wildly in his grave.

It seems that winning elections is something we don't bother with in Corbyns Labour party, eschewing actually helping people in favour of right on studey politics? I am Labour through and through. I have been ( and continue to be) a member for longer than many posters here have been alive. I have seen us chuck out these loons once before and we are going to have to do it again. This time the battle will be harder as people have willingly handed over the reigns of the party to the Clown army.
