Trouble on the Marshes

Popped into hereford and whilst looking on RTT, noticed that 4 trains were canceled, 2 to Manchester, 1 to holyhead and one to cardiff, and a special from Chepstow to Fort William has been sat in platform 3 since around half seven, not entirely sure but think that a freight train (I'm guessing that an engineers to Bescot has broken down in wooferton) not looking good either way

London Midland control have agreed to any reasonable route via Birmingham for Shrewsbury to Hereford travelers.

Would assume as I got to the station at 08:50 that the 08:40 to Worcester left on platform 1 as platform 3 was occupied

At 09:07 the fort William train left and was an announcement that the freight train has been cleared and the line is now reopened

More trouble on the Marches yesterday (Sunday) due, it is reported, by ATW Twitter by the same freight train twice. Info is sketchy but appears to be 1553 Margam to Hartlepool which failed in the Abergavenny area, got going again (how, not sure) and then failed again north of Hereford. Delays to ATW northbound services of up to 151 minutes.
