Saw a northbound GNER 225 working wrong road today south of Donny - was there some trouble?

There has been a fatality reported between Doncaster and Retford. The 225 was probably making it's way back to Doncaster, so passengers could find another way south.

There was one at Doncaster just 2 nights ago! They seem to be getting very frequent...

Ah yes, passed this about 17:40 when my York-Hull train diverged off the ECML at Hambleton, and I remember thinking what the passengers would feel like being 2 hours late!

Just seen it on East Midlands Today, advising not to travel on the ECML this weekend.

Is that not taking it too far? NRES reckons it'll be fine tomorrow.

The OHL south of Peterborough seems to have been causing a few problems in the last few weeks, what with the bad weather etc. Dare I say it, an incentive not to petition for mass-electrification?

Also, I was on ECML earlier as part of my journey but only Doncaster - York. Came through York at about quarter to 4, 3 southbound trains sat in platforms, another 2 with no ETA. I was on XC 1E45 for Newcastle, TM was advising passengers intending to travel GNER and/or to Scotland to stay on the train as far as Newcastle and then get the next Virgin service north (9S66 to Dundee). I was in First on an otherwise busyish train and was undelayed throughout my journey.

Thanks Virgin.
