Trivia: Which Route Do You Live In?

As the title says, which Railway Route do you live in or near?

*Of course, I know NIR isn't a Network Rail route, but it's close enough for our purposes, and I didn't want to leave a part of the country out!


London North Western for me, fortunately one that seems pretty well managed as far as these things go. Only ever lived in this and the Scotland routes.

Are we using geographical "south east" or railway "south east"?

Someone can probably correct me if I'm wrong, but looking at the Sectional Appendix it seems Epsom station is in the Wessex route, but only just! Right in the border with the South East route.

Quail shows it the boundary between Sussex * and Wessex as being just west of Ewell East station; returning to Sussex territory just north of Box Hill station. The Waterloo-(Ewell West)-Epsom-Effingham Jn route is entirely Wessex.

(* - Do Sussex / Kent et al. exist any more, or is it all banded in as South Eastern? I seem to remember reading a while ago that some of the territories had been merged...)

I don't know about historically, but SouthEastern operate virtually all Kent services and Southern stick to Sussex. The only exceptions being Southern's services up the Marshlink to Ashford, part of the Uckfield line around Edenbridge (i don't know exactly where the border lies), the Redhill - Tonbridge line when it passes through a similar area and Southeastern's line to Hastings (again, not sure where it leaves Kent and enters West Sussex). Govia operate the lot of course, but operationally its still separate. If that helps haha

You assume people know or care which NR route they live in. I bet most don't. I doesn't, yet, have much impact on their use of the train.

I'd say you're completely right, but I'd think most people on a railway forum would know.
