There's a stop called Mockbeggar in Reading on the route 19s. Apparently named after Mockbeggar House which is long since demolished and is now allotments and a nursing home.

There is the Jezreels in Gillingham near the site of the bizarre headquarters, Jezreel's Tower demolished in 1961, of the obscure C19 religious sect the Jezreelites, from the assumed name of its founder, James Jershom Jezreel.

Glad someone mentioned this one! It's strange, and rather wonderful, that this name is still used after over six decades. The road junction is still known locally as Jezreels Corner, so hopefully it will survive - and outlive the inept local council renamings that take place sometimes, and displace well-known local names.

'Shadow Factory' also a destination lasted long after WW2 at a number of locations..
I don't know if it is still used but 'Top of Pigsty Hill' was an unofficial one on Gloucester Road in Bristol.
It was on one of the Traws Cymru services the on board next stop announcement was 'Meat Factory'.

Years ago I was in Exeter and was surprised to see buses heading to "Pennsylvania". Wouldn't fancy crossing the Atlantic in a Solo!

Scholes near Holmfirth has a road named "Paris". Currently all bus stops nearby refer to it erroneously as "Paris Road" but in the past the local Holmfirth minibus network has (on and off) included routes with "Paris" as a destination.

This reminds me of the first year of my career down the Cambrian on "factory fortnight". A chap came to the booking window asking me for a single ticket to "Persia". I sort of knew that Persia was a name from the bible for somewhere in the Middle East. But I had to prompt him out of his Brummie dialect and established he wanted to go to Pershore !!! A few years later having moved to the Walsall area I found out that Caldmore was pronounced colloqually as Karma or Car mer.

Obviously these relate to dialect rather than local geographical interpretation.

Going back in the midsts of time, Eastern Counties service 19B (later 676) used to run Fridays only between Loddon and Beccles calling at Nog Dam End which lies between Reedham Ferry and Norton Subcourse in the middle of nowhere. It appears to have ceased by the early 1980s.

Back in my days as driver at Stagecoach’s Bromley garage I would regularly drive the route 269 and every time the bus announced the stop ‘Susan Wood’ I always thought to myself ‘I bet she would!’ At least I amused myself.

As a student in Salford in the 1970s I was amused by bus destinations such as "MATCH", which could be for any sporting venue, and "FOG" which meant a disrupted timetable because of reduced visibility, though it couldn't be read by waiting passengers if the fog was too thick!

I think that name has now been all but expunged. The area is now Boothville.

Also in Northampton is the Golf House bus stop. The golf course that it was adjacent to has been shut for 30 years or more, but the roundabout is still known as the Golf House.

Just off the A43 between Northampton and Kettering there is the village of Old. Not knowing of that village when I was a youngster, when I saw a Bus with "Old" on the destination blind I thought it was a special service for old people.

Over in Kidderminster, the destination for the No.8 bus is "Rifle Range".

And in Derbyshire, the "ilkeston flyer" route has a stop named the "cat and fiddle", it's actually just a pub but I've head some rather obscene jokes when the announcer calls the stop out
