Trivia; stations with the worst view from the platform?

Severn Beach is infinitely better than St Andrews Road though, which is one of the more bleak stations I've been to

I knew someone would argue for St Andrews Road, and it's true the view isn't great. However it is at least interesting. Severn Beach is a hedge one way and an overground field strewn with rubble the other.

You are not going to see it from the platform but it's also worth mentioning that the building is about half a mile from the most famous zebra crossing in the world.

Wonder which station is the furthest from a shop (even a tiny newsagent would classify as a shop!)? Presume the answer lies on the highland line/s - but other than that?

I'd have to also suggest Dovey Junction - it is a mile from any actual roads...

that's not the most flattering photo of it the station though, if the camera was pointing the other way you'd see a fairly boring town. Nowhere near as bad as some of the suggestions on here.

Another vote for Burton.

One side a factory that makes ready meal curries (that stinks).

And the other side: a lovely arrangement of pipes, a Network Rail car park/portacabin, and some hideous flats.

Poor Burton, I have seen much worse. At least it has trees on the platform.

When it comes to walls, what about Sunderland? Basically the whole station is in a cut-and-cover tunnel.

I think it's classed as an underground station so is disqualified as per the OP. I agree it is pretty grim though!

New Holland, the platform has a view of an industrial estate, overgrown tracksides and a town which saw better days.
Scunthorpe looking South isn't nice either.
My local, New Clee is not nice at all to look around.
Hatfield and Stainforth has a view of a slagheap.

Add to that Barrow Haven...

I can just about remember when it still had its South Eastern Railway wooden building (albeit burnt out) You could see it would have been a pleasant little station at one time. Don't think you could say the same now.
