Can't remember where I heard or read this, but isn't the Berney in Berney Arms pronounced "Barney"? Still works as a name of course. If anyone thinks "Arms" is a bit of a stretch for a surname, the lead singer of the Grunge band Mudhoney is named Mark Arm.

(Michel is a French name but no reason why it couldn't be used, and Dever is a surname. I randomly searched for "Tom Dever" - picking the first name at random - and he's an actor, apparently).
