Leaving Kelvindale at 2334 then changing only at Glasgow Queen St allows an arrival at Jordanhill. It needs a walk from the High Level to the Low Level at Queen St

That is only 1 change.

I don't know about the train miles but Norbiton to Hinchley Wood requires a change at New Malden and Surbiton.

In the opposite up direction, there is one Monday to Friday train from Hinchlsy Wood that stops at both Surbiton and New Malden. It has no similar service in the other direction, hence the two changes.

Kew Bridge to Richmond can be done directly on the peak time services that run from Waterloo to Waterloo via Hounslow, so Kew Bridge to Gunnersbury can be done in one change.

Only the Thameslink and Overground stations are two changes apart, Thameslink to Jubilee Line is one change at London Bridge and Overground to Jubilee Line one change at Stratford.

While an interesting little excursion, it's not at all something that's reasonable to want to do.

It's less than a mile through a reasonably inoffensive residential area which is a very easy walk. 14 minutes according to Google Maps.

Going from Acton Town to South Acton is a reasonable thing to want to do - not to need to change twice to do it!

Well, fair enough, but Liverpool Central to Edge Hill was already disregarded though, on the basis that one would simply walk to Lime Street.

Acton Town to South Acton is only 0.7 miles.

Surely 'intra-town' journeys should be barred as most people would not realistically do them by train if it incurred one change or more.

Ealing Common to South Acton might be plausible.

As buses (and the tube) have been ruled out, Rickmansworth (or Chorleywood, Chalfont & Latimer...) to / from Watford Junction's a journey which can't be done without at least two changes. Purely by NR would mean changes at London Marylebone and Birmingham Moor Street / New Street (and Smethwick Galton Bridge if you don't count walking connections), or through Marylebone / Baker Street, Euston Square or Oxford Circus and Euston if the tube counts. Northwick Park / Kenton's probably the default route if the tube's allowed and you're not bothering with buses, but still at least two changes. Edit: there's also Marylebone, Leamington Spa and Coventry, or Marylebone, Bicester North and Bletchley hopefully from next year (or Aylesbury and Bletchley at some point?), but still not under the two-change mark.

I don't think there's any way to get from Theobalds Grove to Stevenage without at least two changes either; either Liverpool Street and Moorgate (unless you count that as one station because of the Crossrail station) or changing at Cheshunt and going through Hertford.

Change at Slough, Reading and Feltham. Or change at Slough, Farringdon, London Bridge and Waterloo.
