Trivia: railway stations not mentioned much on RailUKForums

Back in 2014 there was a thread when people used the forum search function to see which stations did not get many mentions on the forum. The criteria involved using the 'advanced search' option to discount the Quiz section, which contains many station-themed puzzles and games so would alter the results dramatically - and now also the Trip Planning forum, as that contains a lot of bashers' logs so would also skew the results..

Having read through that thread, the winner appeared to be Eastrington; that station had 14 mentions.

However, the search function at that time was difficult to use, and often faulty. Many people had to use Google instead; so, it seems the right time to come back to this topic, now that the forum has been updated with a shiny new search function.

So, a moment ago, I did another search.

Aside from the 'Other Forums' section, this post marks the 5th time that Brithdir has ever been mentioned.

Can we go any lower? And is there any station that has never been mentioned on this forum? Not ever?

I think I’ve mentioned Brithdir before in a thread for having a nightclub more or less on the platform.

I’ve never heard of Eastrington or Assam though. On this forum, we spend a lot of time talking about stations that are heavily used or medium-used, or quiet/ deserted ones - but the stations like Brithdir and Pentre-Bach are just kind of there. (Have you searched the latter as two words or a hyphen, as that is how most people spell it)

Not even close to Brithdir's 5, which is amazingly low (now 7 - I suppose these thread are self-defeating!)!

I wonder if Northern Ireland might be fruitful territory for this. Scarva has 7 mentions, I wonder if any are lower?

Arram is, as I remember it, a tiny station on the Hull to Bridlington line - or it was tiny (i.e. just a platform) when I was a lad 40 years ago
I suspect autocorrect got in there as Assam is a state in India.

I have just discovered that there is one railway station in the UK, currently open, that has never been posted before. I'll do another thorough check but I think I've got it.

The intermediate station on the Cairngorm Funicular at Sheiling seems to return zero references from the Search function although the word "sheiling" has been used in explaining Gaelic names elsewhere.

Bures and Chappel & Wakes Colne never get much mention.

I only know Chappel and Wakes Colne because "Wakes Coline see Chappel and Wakes Colne" was the first station listed on one of the pages of the list of stations in a National Rail timetable.

I'm not sure. The Marshlink is (quite rightly) a bit of a celebrity on here as many of us are so fond of it. I would suggest that Cooden Beach and Collington probably get less of a look in.
