Trivia: Most stops on a scheduled service?

Another one of these threads searching for the record most/least of X on a scheduled service... The reason I ask is that in the past I've taken the 06:22 SWT service from Clapham Junction to Woking: the train itself continues unremarkably to Portsmouth Harbour, but the train before it on platform 9 is always the 06:19 to Weymouth (06:12 off Waterloo), which seems to run like a regular stopper to Basingstoke, then continues calling at ALL stations to Weymouth. I make that 43 stations - the station announcements never had a chance in hell of calling all of them before the train had already left (though I had a chuckle at 'Pokesdown for Boscombe' being in a different voice to the others).

Can this number of stops be beaten on the rest of the network? Possibly some stopping service through Devon/Cornwall or a through train in the Scottish Highlands might be close?

Some of the Welsh services like the Heart of Wales line have loads of stops and the annoucements are in English and then Welsh - some of them take about 5 mins to announce!

The 0425 Holyhead to Milford Haven takes some beating eight hours & untold stops, well over 40s ,I am guessing this is ATWs longest direct timetabled run.

If you had a time machine perhaps. SWT no longer travel beyond Exeter St Davids.

Buxton to Barrow in Furness is 36 stops... the most stops on a service in Northern England. Runs at 1527 M-F and terminates in BIF at 1859.

If so, how about Luton/St Albans to Luton/St Albans via Sutton? Not sure of the total amount of stops though.

But lets think... Luton - St. Albans = 51 station stops, but could be 55 on some of the workings that carry on up to Bedford too!

Yep - at Sutton, where the headcode generally adds 1, hence why some people may regard it as two separate services

Yeah, NRE has those trains as running Luton–Sutton (as opposed to showing Waterloo–Waterloo, Ellesmere Port–Ellesmere Port and Glasgow Ctl–Glasgow Ctl for other loop services). Shame though

Even when they did run there were only 28 stops to Paignton, and usually less to Plymouth. Even the Waterloo to Penzance and Brighton to Paignton Saturday services didn't reach mid thirties.

This question is all about calling patterns...
