If you go by trains per hour X mileage, Brum to London has to be up there, as mentioned before.

This works out at 691.5 train miles per hour.

Surely Liverpool Moorfields to Liverpool Central has more?

The figures are both way, as I figured that was more important for longer distances: which is why they're all roughly double your approximations

Overall, definitely Waterloo to Clapham Junction 36tph off-peak (which I believe is more frequent than the peak, fewer fast trains stop in the peak).

Clapham Junction to Waterloo has 37 trains departing 0700-0759, so technically beats off-peak then. This drops to 33 in the 0800-0859 slot though, which is the same as Stratford to Liverpool Street. This should be slightly higher once full Crossrail operation starts, but that is subject to speculation

Including the tube, it's probably King's Cross St Pancras - Euston (incl Euston Square), which is 34 tph Victoria, 18 tph Northern, 12 Met, 6 Circle, 6 H&C, which adds up to 76 tph.

For tube+NR combinations, from Finsbury Park to Kings Cross in the 0700-0759 slot there are 10 (Great Northern) + 24 (Piccadilly) + 35 (Victoria) = 69tph. I appreciate this doesn't quite match Kings Cross to Euston (Square), but I would argue Euston Square is a different station, whereas Kings Cross St Pancras is one big complex.

The sleepers cannot be used by Euston - Preston passengers neither can Virgin services be used by Euston - Watford passengers so these must be discounted from the calculations.

London Euston to Milton Keynes Central is about 50 miles and has 8 trains per hour which is a lot.

For 100 miles I think London to Crewe as others have said is 5 trains per hour and London to Doncaster which for the most part is a similar service patten are difficult to beat.

Although not to the same station Leeds to Manchester is 8 trains per hour which is quite a large number.

Ah that was intentional, as the OP mentioned they were interested in NR rather than tube, so thought I'd address that first, though I take your point that it would be one of the highest frequencies with the Central line as well. Have edited for clarity.

I think we've all agreed that if you include the tube, then King's Cross - Euston wins (with about 76tph).
