There do seem to be pen marks through up main / down main and P1-3, but the carriage sidings which you mentioned, and were thus the area my comments referred to, are just shown as electrified.

You could easily get a 153 at the top and a 158 in between as well. I have seen the 2 HSTs together by the way, I am not guessing.

At a rough calculation, a 2+9 HST is around 242m.

I'm confused as to the data for Cambridge- the ever (hah!) reliable Wikipedia quotes 514 yards- which is 470m. But I'm pretty sure both 1 and 4 have 12 car signs, and presumably they can use these without blocking the points in the middle. So that would be 480m plus however long is needed for the crossover. Anyone know the real length? Or are my wires crossed, and platform 1 is only 8 cars? I rarely head north from the station, and haven't actually paid attention to what's on the end.

Gloucester platfrom 1+2 is 1977ft 602.5896m end to end

I can tell you its long as many a time i've got off train on platfrom 1 and had to run all the way to exit on platfrom 2 so that i could catch my bus home, and of course sometimes i could see the bus leave as i got to the exit

Yes, the combined length of platforms 1 and 2 at Gloucester is 494m.
Combined length of platforms 1 and 4 at Cambridge is 467m.
Longest single platform seems to be Darlington platform 4 at 458m.
