Trivia: Least served station with a dispatcher

Having been quite surprised at the presence of a dispatcher at Helensburgh Central, despite there only being 2tph, I wondered what other stations had one with a limited service!

Are station despatches something unique to the UK? Not sure the "passenger pushers" seen in Japan etc count as despatchers. K Nah. They're still around in Europe though it depends where you are.

Holyhead has a dispatcher, with usually 2tph although some hours there’s only one. Before the May timetable change most hours during the day only saw one train except when there was an Avanti departure as well.

I don't head that far down the line very often. Does the dispatcher have some other duties? Assuming so, what are they?

I’m fairly sure they double up as ‘chargeman’. I don’t know exactly what it entails but I guess everything that’s needed to keep the station running, including the traincrew depot (which is probably more of a reason to have someone there than purely dispatching trains, although the platforms are curved and Avanti can run 10-car trains, so they’re certainly necessary for that).

Castle Cary has platform dispatch with a relatively low calling frequency and patronage (0.355 million); typically 1tp2h in each direction on each of the London and Weymouth services, with a few extra SWR services.

Of course during Glastonbury festival, the station sees a massive influx of passengers and staff deployed with specialist dispatch instructions and queueing systems.
