They seem to be a favourite on old station buildings which have been sold off as private houses, behind a fence from the platform but close enough to be readily read by passengers. Many will be replicas of course, but I bet some are originals from the station at sale time. Bere Ferrers is one that springs to mind

No,the origional Bere Ferrers totems were second hand from Bingham Road. The central section was over painted with the new name. The ones carried today are replicas.

The last station known to have carried its origional totems was Goxhill. These were removed in 1988. Any hanging on a NR station now would be replicas. There may be one or two stations where an example has been preserved in a secure location such as a booking office.Oxford used to have one behind glass.
A few years ago this original totem made an appearance in the main concourse. I think it was the one referred to above, as it had various display positions throughout the changing faces of Oxford Station.

Certainly not there anymore ( and it's not on my wall ! )

Newbury has one in the waiting room, but I assume it’s a reproduction.

Edge Hill Liverpool has a genuine BR LMR enamel sign nearby, but it’s not a totem so possibly OT...?

As kids we used to have the totem from Cargo Fleet station on the Redcar line. We'd found it there just lying on the ground and brought it home. We kept it in the outside toilet for a while. It got a bit bent and we used to stand on it and use it as see-saw!

In the end our mum made us throw it out.

Wish we'd kept it.

Thought I wasn't imagining it. Not a totem as such but there's still an old sign in situ at Grindleford on the old station building, now the famous station cafe.

It certainly looks like the original sign, although it's possible it was rescued from scrap to be subsequently restored in place.
