Perhaps they're in a sort of fan shape and Platform 51 and Platform 1 are actually next to one another.
That would be an interesting terminal station design. I wonder if anything similar exists in the world.

Edinburgh Waverley is probably worth a mention on that front, not only is it huge but the platforms are arranged unusually as the station consists of an east facing terminal and a west facing terminal mashed together with through platforms on either side making it it almost ring shaped.
The platforms are numbered in a clockwise fashion so platform 20 is next to platform 1. It probably doesn't make much sense if you only see it from ground level but look at it on a map and it's perfectly obvious what is going on.

If Canal Street Station is included, Waverley had North facing platforms too. These led to Leith and Newhaven via the Scotland Street Tunnel. This was before the station(s) was known as Waverley, though.
