Is there track still laid in HMS Sultan for Network Rail apprentices? That’s pretty isolated from the network…

Reckon there will be various sections of out-of-use and now isolated standard gauge trackwork in the Trafford Park Industrial Estate area (a few miles South West of Manchester) particularly where the connecting rails have been lifted/removed and/or road crossings have been tarmacked over.

Is there anything left of the isolated standard gauge internal network at Blackburn Meadows sewage works , near Meadowhall in Sheffield? I know it (the rail network) was closed many years ago, but I was wondering whether any short sections of track still remained.

I noticed a piece of track yesterday at Stroud station, looks like it ran into the old depot just to the East of the station.

Where in the U.K. is there a ‘train ferry’ ??
None nowadays.....but in the past Dover-Dunkerque, Harwich-Zeebrugge (IIRC) plus, in the much more distant past - prior to the opening of the Forth and Tay Bridges - Granton-Burntisland and Tayport-Broughty Ferry.

There's a 143 unit on an isolated bit of track at Llanelli Goods Shed.

Gwili Railway is not connected to the main line at Carmarthen and is about a mile from Carmarthen Station.

Isolated tracks at Cynheidre Colliery site with some preserved vehicles.

Pontypool and Blaenavon Railway is isolated too.

The bay platforms at Moorgate retain standard gauge track but are physically isolated from the rest of the network at Barbican
