TRIVIA: How many 'crack expresses' are there?

I've never heard this phrase before and did also wonder that it meant something quite different!

At 56 minutes Swindon-Paddington it isn't fast - only about 80mph. When introduced the HST timing was 49 mins non-stop and that was for regular workings rather than anything special.

If this got a clean run it would be doing it in 52, other trains get in the way. If it was clean with no TSRs it would be doing it in 47.

If they retain the non-stop run from Swindon, hopefully they'll tighten it up to at least 49 mins or better when they rejig things for solely IET operation.

1003 and 1203 Paddington to Penzance service both run non-stop between Reading and Exeter, whilst the 0900 Penzance to Paddington does the same in reverse and misses Newton Abbott as well.

At least GWR name their "crack express" services too.

Some of the peak hour c2c services might qualify, whilst nowhere at all near the same distance as the others a train fast from Benfleet to London for example probably feels pretty crack compared to others.
