Trivia: Greatest age difference between two adjacent rail vehicles

I was looking at some pictures the other day of those old pre-BR dining cars painted in blue and grey which ran with more modern stock up to the late 70's (?) & wondered what other examples there were of an old lady buffered up to a toy boy so lets have few categories-

1) In UK national rail passenger service

2) Any other passenger service UK or worldwide

3) Anything goes-freight, stock moves, ECS moves, industrial, tramway etc.

I would have thought some preserved narrow gauge line using a new-build diesel to haul original Victorian stock must be in with a shout. Doesn't the IOM steam railway have a brand new diesel that had a heap of reliability issues?

68s and MK2s spring to mind. Also not working together/coupled but viewable next to each other on a daily basis the oldest LU stock next to some of the newest i.e Bakerloo 72 stock and Victoria 2009 stock at Oxford Circus.

The Isle of Man Steam Railway has to be in with a shout. The oldest locomotive in the fleet is No. 4 Loch (1874; currently withdrawn for an overhaul), and the newest is the unnamed diesel-electric locomotive No. 21 (2013) which I believe is still out of service.

The oldest carriage bodies on the network are A.1 and B.1 (both 1873) which form "Pairs" coach F.62 (1926), which is currently undergoing a rebuild. The oldest whole carriage in service is "Small F" carriage F.9 (1881).

Also when Class 20s take S Stock to and from Derby there is quite a difference in ages there

Do the Tallylnn or Festiniog have any brand new build coaches?- If so one of those attached to Prince or Dolgoch must be some sort of record.

NR 31105 dates from 19/03/1959 so the age gap between the stock might not be that great!

Disregarding LHCS and freight, the biggest gap in age within a formation would probably be a 170 running with a 150 (can 172s work with Sprinters?). Until withdrawal, the C-stock sets with the 7/7 replacement cars would be contenders.

FFestiniog have been building new carriages at Boston Lodge Carriage Works for some time. Not just for the FFestiniog but other lines as well. The oldlest loco in use is Prince (1863) so 154 years.

You'll see a Class 68 and a class 121 in the platforms at the same time at Princes Risborough most days.

Definitive answer is the Ffestiniog railway, we have Prince, the oldest working narrow gauge steam locomotive in the world, a number of carriages dating from the 1870s and earlier, and new build locomotives such as the L&B manning wardle replica 'Lyd'. Oh and a fleet of brand new carriages, both for the FR and WHR.

No, but I have a photo somewhere of one coupled to a 230x unit which of course was a BEP converted from a CEP - however the age difference would only have been about 20 - 25 years.

No but it did run with 73s. But that was only 27 years difference with the earliest 73.

As it presently stands in the West Central Scotland, for EMUs you can on some occasions see a Class 314 (built 1979) and a Class 380 (built 2010) in the same platform or an adjacent one at Glasgow Central.

For Intercity stock, there are sometimes occasions when the sleeper from London is routed into Platform 1 (coaches built circa 1972 or the SLEP I think around 1980), with either a Class 390, 220, or 221 in Platform 2 (all three classes built around 2001).
