The AM3 'Blue Trains' were equally popular it seemed with the public compared to the previous steam service.
The Cathcart Circle was operated by DMUs in the run up to the electrics starting, and it was a type of service they weren’t really intended for or suited to.

Why not, the shorter station spacing?

(I believe most of the Glasgow area suburban lines saw DMUs at least in part even if they were later closed.)
