Hey guys, in need of some advice...

I have a long weekend away planned in and around the Leeds area this weekend. With all that's going on at the moment, im feeling a little uneasy... Ive already bought tickets and accomodation in advance but im starting to wonder if this such a good idea. Should i cancel and rebook?

Well tonight has been a damp squib for the far right, so I would carry on as planned.

@Train Maniac. Good question!

Suppose it depends on how much you value your personal safety and peace of mind, against the £££ that you might possibly lose by cancelling your travel and/or accommodation.

The rail tickets (if they're Anytime/Off Peak), should be refundable, probably subject to a fee. If they're "booked train only" Advance Single tickets, you should be able to swap them for travel at a future date, again, likely subject to a fee, and possibly an additional sum if the fare is more. All depends on who you've booked them through.

Similarly as regards your accommodation provider, do they allow for fee-free cancellations at short notice, or might you lose all or most of the money you've paid?

Ultimately, your decision af the end of the day.

Depends also on how fixed your plans are - and exactly where your accommodation is.

The way i see it, im only using Leeds Premier Inn for a bed. My actual intention is to explore the lines around Leeds to Harrogate and Selby, so will mostly be giving the city centre itself a wide berth. Ive decided to keep an eye on things and see how they pan out. Worst comes to worst i'll just have to reschedule on Saturday evening for sometime in September...

i wouldn't worry. Just have your antennae tuned in and think sensibly . - any trouble will be contained to a small area and wont be happening on the train to Shipley!

Don't let a bunch of simpletons rule your life. ( easy to say when you are not in the target group but the point remains)
