On the naughty step again.
I have to go to Kidderminster next Tuesday. The train would be nice but....
Seven hours with three changes at Taunton, Bristol and Worcester.
Mr. AA says it should be four hours and nineteen minutes by car. Allow for a coffee/toilet stop and (hopefully) no big traffic issues) that'll be five hours - door to door. Train journey is a fifteen minute walk to the station at the start and a taxi ride at the destination.
Advance ticket means the cost is about the same.
Two hours is a tremendous difference.
I probably will take the train as I'm in no hurry but................

whats your point? Is it that Kidderminster doesn't have a direct service to somewhere down west but is conveniently placed for the SW facing M5 making the car a quicker trip?

it takes me 3 and 1/2 hours by train from my home to Kidderminster and 3/4 changes. The car takes 1hr 48 minutes according to google.

Without knowing where you're travelling from it's hard to comment.

Warwick isn't in Warwick I guess...

The position of Worcester off the main Birmingham-Bristol line is something of an accident of history dating back to when that line was built. Rationalisation in the 1970s created a similar situation for Gloucester. As a result neither has a good service towards Bristol.

From Taunton, I get sleeper to Paddington, tube to Marylebone then train up to birmingham with a change for kiddiminster. Often cheaper and avoids voyagers

If you have a comfortable car, then I'd be inclined to drive there tbh.

It seems ridiculous there isn’t a direct express service from Penzance – Kidderminster. A possible route for HS4 perhaps?

Yes. And then onwards to my local stop with nothing inbetween.

Just shy of 4 hours by train for me and less than 2 in the car.
Is certainly be tempted to drive.

I SaaB 9-3 Aero sportswagon. Fast and comfortable.

Nice! That'll be much better than a Voyager/class 150.
Coincidentally I was looking at these this afternoon, they really do look like nice cars, it's a shame Saab isn't around any longer.
