Trip to Brighton

Hey, off on a day trip to Brighton from St. Neots and was wondering how cheap I can get my fare. I looked up advance fares on the national rail website, and I couldn't really work it!
If any one could help/link/show me a website or give some advice then it would be much appreciated.

According to Avantix Traveller there is no advance fare between St Neots (SNO) and Brighton (BTN) so if you're willing to be tied to specific trains then you'll have to split.

Currently Southern are offering 25% off advance fares and 15% off off-peak fares if booked via their website. I had a look at 21 July and loads of trains are available at £3.75 one way no railcard from Victoria (VIC) to BTN.

Off-Peak Day Return SNO-London Terminals is £20 or for Sat/Sun £16 (Super Off-Peak Day Return) but you'll need to pay separately to get to Victoria.

Alternatively if you can book 7 days ahead a Southern DaySave is £10 for the whole day after 10.00 Mon-Fri with some evening restrictions too. So you can go on the X5 bus to Milton Keynes Central which costs £10.90 Day Return or £11 Period Return. DaySave has to be bought on Southern website

No problem. That's what we're all here for.

Just be warned that the DaySave option does not leave you with much time in Brighton on a weekday as it is only valid after 1000. So the first train you can catch from Milton Keynes Central is the 1013 changing at Clapham Junction arriving 1227. The last train back would be the 1719 changing at East Croydon arriving back at MKC at 2006 as the last X5 back is at 2040 daily. There are obviously no restrictions on Saturday.

Come to think about it, the first bus into MKC on a Saturday at 0845, connecting with the 0913, whereas the last train back is at 1649 leaving BTN so it really only gives you an extra half hour so not much a difference here.

Before July 25th there is also the Oyster Card offer, of a day return from London for £5. I think if you go with FCC then the return is valid on any train.
