Trip to Bedford - please advise!

Hey.

2 questions if i may
There are bus replacement services on the fcc luton to bedford today. There was no mention of it on Friday when i purchased my ticket! Is it scheduled or is there a problem?

And so... im going to go back tomorrow but when i do a trainapp check, It says that a "southeastern" train runs from blackfriars to bedford at 8:50am monday. Is this a glitch? I have only ever used fcc and east midlands to bedford! I hope the trains arent buggerer tomorrow too!!

When did you book your ticket? What itinerary were you given? (can you print screen & attach it, or copy/paste it?)

Ignore the "Southeastern" operator; it is FCC and the booking systems and timetable apps can't always cope well with change of operators en-route.

It would be feasible to do London to Bletchley, followed by a trip over the Marston Vale line to Bedford, rather than going via Blackfriars.

Well i was at bedford station on friday. Normally they have signs up to say service changes but i dont recall seeing any. Did they have problems with the overhead lines or something or is this planned works? And will they close the lines again?

It was certainly on the FCC website when I checked on Friday.

Engineering possession on the slow lines. Northbound EMT services are the only trains able to call at Bedford.

It would be feasible to do London to Bletchley, followed by a trip over the Marston Vale line to Bedford, rather than going via Blackfriars.

No Sunday service on the Marston Vale.

Northbound fast EMT trains were running London-Bedford as mentioned above, however strictly speaking were pick up only at Bedford (for goodness knows what reason - challenged EMT on Twitter on this and they were none the wiser either!) and thus not on the boards at St Pancras

There were also unplanned problems with the OLE . Work to do with installing the freight loop at Sundon .....(which some people seem to think is not needed - however .........)

Presumably because EMT didn't want their 4 and 5 car 222s being completely wedged with passengers for Bedford who didn't want the hassle of having to get replacement buses ?

But surely no different to any other Sunday? If anything, would've thought numbers travelling to Bedford would be less than normal as the opposite journey still required a RRB

Good job the OP wanted to travel back on the Monday then, huh?? I know there's no service on the Marston Vale on a sunday, I should do, I sign it!!!!
