Hardest I have faced was "give an example of when you were unfairly criticised."
A real minefield of a question because obviously you've got to admit to being criticised for something (so be very careful what this is!!!) and then explain how the criticism was unfair. It would be very easy to give an example of criticism which wasn't unfair in which case you're immediately marked down as someone who can't take criticism!
Agree totally! I was always told always end your answer to a question like that with a positive!
For example I was asked about weaknesses I had......to which I replied I used to take criticism to heart and felt like I was doing something wrong and maybe letting someone down in some form.
(Made sure I emphasised that it didn't cause me to kick off in any way)
However experience has now told me that sometimes it's not about always someone trying to bring you down or pick out negatives in your performance, It can also be constructive and help you become a stronger employee or person. I now use criticism in whatever form it comes as a learning aid.
I don't know to this day where I pulled it from as it was a question I certainly wasn't expecting but I got the job so it must of been ok or I was very lucky lol!!
But yes some of these questions can be minefields but the key really is to take a breath and truly think about your answer and don't just blurt out the first thing that comes to mind.
