Triangular journey tickets

My wife wants to travel from Lee (London) or Kidbrooke to Windsor & Eton (either), arriving by 10:00, and onwards that afternoon to Dalston Junction or Kingsland before returning to Lee (London) or Kidbrooke. Either of the alternatives in each pair is fine. Travel will be on a weekday this month. She does not have and is not eligible for any relevant Railcards.

My current ticket suggestion is a Z1-4 Anytime Day Travelcard £12.30 plus Boundary Zone 4 to Windsor & Eton Central Anytime Day Retun £10.80. Any improvements? She has no appetite for arguments with staff about dubious tickets.

The first thing to say is that the journey should be to Windsor & Eton Riverside, not Central, because that is an easy journey, Lee (dep. 8.20) to Waterloo East, then Waterloo to W&ER. (arr. 9.52)

Returning from there to Richmond change for Overground direct to Dalston (Kingsland).

Then Dalston Junction to New Cross, change there to get to Lee.

Maybe a zones 1-6 travelcard then BZ6 to Windsor would be an alternative. If the train crosses the BZ6 boundary after 9.30 an off-peak day return would be valid. It is timed to leave Feltham at 9.29. Otherwise your BZ4 plan would work, with BZ4 to W&ER being £13.30

I think that's unlikely to be valid sadly. You would need to pass the last station in zone 6 after 0930.

The OP's wife might save about £3 pounds by buying an offpeak day return from Lee/Kidbrooke to Windsor & Eton Central, and then using Oyster for Paddington-Dalston and Dalston-New Cross, using the final validity of the return portion of the day return for New X to whichever of Lee/Kidbrooke she started from.

But with the Off Peak Day Return she won't be able to arrive in Windsor before 10:00, as stated in the opening post.
