Durham train incident LIVE: Police in attendance with roads around viaduct closed

Media source - https://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/north-east-news/newcastle-travel-live-updates-traffic-31927867
(Complies with service disruption thread guidance https://www.railforums.co.uk/threads/service-disruption-thread-guidance.279630/ as considered 'major' disruption, and reported by media).

Anyone got information about this, or have any idea what will be happening to the passenger services stationary in the affected area?

Hmm wonder if it's a vulnerable individual again? That's happened a few times in the past few years. Could be a long one if it takes sensitive handling to get them down safely.

I imagine that LNER will try and divert via the Durham Cost if possible (depends on crew route knowledge and having bi-mode traction). Services directly in the area are probably stuck there for the foreseeable though they may try and get them back to a station if possible in due course. I recall that Northern ran what should have been an empty stock move in passenger service a few years ago from Darlington to Newcastle to help get stranded passengers on the move when one of these incidents ran late into the night. That was a good bit of flexible working I thought!

Yes - unfortunately it was a vulnerable individual. Believe this happened a couple of weeks ago too.

Looks like a few southbounds were spun around at newcastle to go north, and some northbounds spun at darlington to go south.

The road seems to be reopened again too - so thankfully all sorted in advance of the expected timeframe, with the individual safely in BTP custody

#LNERupdate:
@BTP have safely removed the trespasser and we are working to restore services to normal. Delays are still expected, please check your journey at https://lner.co.uk/travel-information/travelling-now/travel-alerts/ prior to travel.

Excellent, hopefully they'll be able to get the support they need.
