Travelling by train through Europe

Hi,

I'm travelling to Berlin & zurich in august and i am wondering where to book the cheapest tickets (website). Also I'm hoping to travel on DBs City Night Line

www.eurostar.com for London/Nottingham-Paris, www.tgv-europe.com for Paris to Zurich, www.bahn.de for Berlin-Zurich & Paris-Berlin and within Germany. www.bahn.de also does CNL.

You could also call DB Bahn UK on 08718 80 80 66 to book the tickets.

BTW, CNL is very variable in quality. The TALGOs from Berlin/Hamburg-Munich is odd, but the couchettes are the best. CNL from Zurich to Berlin is also very good but a lot of the others are nothing special

You can get from London to Berlin (or vice versa) via Brussels for €49 2nd class, €99 1st class/Leisure Select one way on day trains, if you book in advance on the DB website.

inter rail passes are very good value. Have a look at those.

I got a 1st class one & started in Warsaw, through to vienna, venice, zurich, frankfurt, amsterdam, brussels, london over a week. The expensive bit was Brussels to London, didn't need a supplement (only a reservation) for zurich-amsterdam, and amsterdam to brussels you can change any train (except Thalys - need a supplement for that)
