On the very briefest of looks (not actually read any of it yet.) one comment; get rid of that background and replace it with something plain!

Yeah that's a good idea.

The fonts of the front page are all over the place.

I'm sure with time there will be improvements though.

I agree with needing a plain background.

If I attempt to view the page from a site that does some blocking (like from work), whatever the background pictures are are replaced by my company's annoying "blocked picture" icon.

I found from doing a number of web pages over the years that the simpler the better.
Also makes for faster displaying. (Not as much an issue as back in the early days of dial-up, ISDN, etc., of course.)

The background is incredibly distracting.
The wording of the pages needs to be sorted - I've read the homepage and I still don't know what the site is about.

There's not much more I can say - the rest seems to be prebuilt apps or templates.

I have just looked at this from a copyright perspective; are all of the photo's in the gallery your's (you took them) or are they off the web?
If the latter you need to sort it out because you are currently breaking the law, follow relevant laws.

My partner built the site for her uncle, the photos in the gallery were taken by her uncle and his friends on thier various trips, and are used in this site with the permission of the various photographers. thanks for the feedback guys it is at the moment a work in progress and the comments about the background have been noted.

Great then that's nothing to worry about... is there anyway they can appear bigger as they are tiny!

Now that I've read it I have to agree with one of posters above; I'm really not sure what the site is supposed to be about. It would be a good idea to decide if its a photo gallery or some kind of public transport blog or whatever and then stick to that.
Oh yes, one other thing; I suspect I'll get the 'forgive the dyslexics' mob jumping on me for mentioning this but the spelling, grammar and punctuation are not good. While spelling and grammar checkers provided with some software can help you really need to get someone to proof-read the site and do your best to get these things right or at least not too blatantly wrong.
If you want the site to be taken seriously, this is really quite important.
So as not to be entirely negative, you'll be getting a PM!

I don't know whether it's just something I'm doing wrong but all the pics (in the trains gallery at least) are thumbnail size. Clicking an image just brings up the thumbnail of the next pic in the gallery; 'clicking full size' brings up a tiny image of the same (thumbnail size again). Clicking on 'slide show' does allow me to see a picture that fills the screen (more or less) but they're so pixellated as to be unviewable.

Have all the pics been uploaded as thumbnails?

Also, echoing a comment above, the lack of punctuation, spelling errors, seemingly random fonts and big walls of text make some of the text pages unreadable. And I'm also unclear as to what the site is about - who or what is Calumbus?

The layout's OK but it's a free template, right?

Is this the same person associated with http://calumsphotos.fotopic.net/?
If so, I guess it is someone named Calum who is into buses?

BTW - the pixelated "larger pictures" need to be corrected with real larger pictures.

Onn the positive side - keep at it. Take all advice as well-meant.
