For most people they were moved closer to London, with Leeds and Birmingham moved to MK (with many staff leaving as soon as they could). Even for those coming from Paddington it was a significant move across London, which many couldn’t justify.
That Network Rail tried selling the move to MK by comparing it to London when not only were most not coming from London but almost all the metrics of MK were worse than where they were coming from told it all.
